This is Part Two of Virtualization Thought Leaders. Part One, which includes Brian Madden, Simon Bramfitt, and others, can be found here.

Ruben Spruijt – Ruben is only in his mid-30’s but he’s already collected an impressive list of industry accolades: Microsoft MVP, Citrix CTP, VMware vExpert, and RES Software Value Professional (RSVP). Furthermore, he is a Citrix Certified Integration Architect (CCIA), Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator (CCEA), as well as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE+S). By day he is Technology Officer at PQR, focusing on application and desktop delivery and virtualization, but he also is a regular blogger at BrianMadden.com. He is also a regular author of well-received “Smackdown” papers, the latest of which compares various VDI solutions and is a must-read.

Dr. Benny Tritsch – Benny wears many hats: he’s a virtualization technology evangelist, an IT systems architect, a market analyst, and a Windows system developer. He’s also a perennial MVP – he has received the “Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP)” award for Remote Desktop Services every year since 2004, and in 2006 he was a charter award winner of the “Citrix Technology Professional (CTP).” Benny’s also a prolific author, publishing technical articles and several best-selling books, such as Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services (Microsoft Press). Benny is a frequent speaker at leading international events including Microsoft TechEd and Citrix Synergy.

Tim Mangan – Known as Microsoft's “Go To Guy for App-V,” Tim is a Microsoft MVP for application virtualization. He is founder of TMurgent Technologies, which focuses on the intersection between applications and operating systems. Tim develops application virtualization software and provides training and consulting to the industry and end-users. Tim has also been named a Citrix CTP and is the president of Virtualization Boston, a local user group encouraging the exchange of knowledge about all aspects of virtualization between IT professionals.

Shawn Bass – Shawn is an independent consultant with a mantle full of industry awards. He was named a Citrix CTP in 2006 for community contributions via industry forums and and presentations at various technical conferences throughout the world. In 2008, he was named Microsoft MVP for contributions to the terminal services community. Shaun has written thousands of forum posts for the Official Citrix Forums, BrianMadden.com forum, and AppVirtGuru.com forum. He's spoken about Citrix throughout the world, including numerous BriForums, PubForums, and Citrix Synergys. Somehow Shawn still finds the time to lead regular Citrix XenApp training classes for IT professionals.

Ian Song – Ian is a senior research analyst for IDC's Enterprise Virtualization Software program, and a very worthy addition to this list. In his three years at IDC he created the first worldwide desktop virtualization vendor assessment – known as the IDC MarketScape – while examining virtualization software products deployed within the enterprise. He’s delivered bi-annual worldwide desktop virtualization market size and forecast documents, and published research papers on emerging IT trends, such as consumerization of IT and cloud services.
