We spoke to Ana Maria Ciufu, our Principal Software Engineer about her life at Matrix42. She gave us insights into her day-to-day as well as career development.

Ana, what do you enjoy most about working here? 

I am working with highly experienced people who are also genuinely kind and supportive - they’re a constant source of inspiration. 

What makes this company different from other places you've worked? 

It’s the combination of technical excellence and a true sense of ownership. From day one, I was empowered to have a strong voice in the team and make an impact. 

How has your career developed since joining? 

I've developed both technically and as a leader—contributing to critical features and driving initiatives that made a real difference. 

What learning and growth opportunities have you had here? 

Just to name a few, I’ve led a cross-team Integration effort, contributed to a platform-wide consumption monitoring initiative, and benefited from strong mentorship throughout the process. 

Let’s talk about collaboration - what do you love about your team?  

I’m lucky to be part of a team made up of highly skilled individuals who pair their expertise with a genuine willingness to support one another. This makes a big difference when the standards are high. 

How does teamwork play a role in your day-to-day work? 

Teamwork is at the core of how we operate—solving problems, sharing knowledge, and building solutions all happen through close collaboration across roles. 

How would you describe the leadership style here? 

Empowering. Leaders set a high bar but give you autonomy and support to succeed. 

Regarding Work-Life Balance, how are you being supported here at Matrix42? 
 
While the pace can be intense at times, there’s genuine respect for personal time and clear communication around priorities. 

How does Matrix42 encourage innovation and new ideas? 

Innovation is encouraged through a culture that values initiative, empowering individuals to explore solutions and bring meaningful ideas to life.
